I found this game recently and thought you all would also like it.

It is an open source turn based battle game with a steampunk setting.
It is written in Clojure and ran though Java.

Kinda wish there were a standalone .exe version provided. Browser-based Java is deader than Flash.

You can download the game but I do agree with you that it being an .exe would be better.

The advantage over a Windows .exe is that the Java version runs on Linux (though with a disturbing number of increasingly frantic security prompts) and presumably other OSes as well. I agree, though, that web-based Java is dead for a reason. Distribute it as a standalone .jar for heaven's sake!

Not really (unless it changed) the JNLP file is basically a fancy LNK to the web-based java.
So has anyone had the credit card stolen yet? I kinda want to try this? ;)

I have no idea what the first sentence means, but you can try it by adding the website to your java exceptions. That is how I was able to play it.
