Have two friends that are programmers that prefer BF and WoT instead of DF, so from my experience being a programmer doesn't really matter as much as if you are into dorfs. But i'm sure being a programmer helps a lot when it comes to actually playing DF and designing fortresses.

Sure, you right. It's only minor part of programmers even know DF, and only minor part of them(minor part of minor part, hehehe) plays it.
Peope simply think that be programmer equal to be geeky programmer.

I'm between the ages of 30 and 40, (and yes, female!!! I realise we're all male on the internet, though). I work in education. I've never done programming, know nothing about programming, but I have dated programmers in the past (they did not play dwarf fort, though, for some reason). I sew, play music, draw art, and have a pretty standard income, a car, and a varied social life. I don't know if that makes me normal or not, but I'm a pretty typical white Aussie, if it helps.

We are all individuals, of course....

I'm an American 15 year old with Asperger's who is a huge fan of Nintendo (especially the EarthBound/Mother series and Mario), Sega, and Dwarf Fortress who is trying to learn how to mod DF.

I'm a guy who lifts, jogs, reads a lot, cooks for his friends every weekend and, while an IT guy, is still not in devops and went to college for a B.A. in English to boot!

While I do have Asperger's and am a programmer, I also have been writing for 9~ years and own my own company.

Normal? Beats me.
