Dwarf ignores certain stones?
« on: November 21, 2016, 09:47:58 am »

Am I missing something? Got plenty of alunite, microline, othoclase among others but they dont show up when I try to build a construction and they are ignored for everything.

They just use rhyolite for everything. Have I managed to mess up in some menu?

Possibly.
There's the 'z'stocks-stone submenu where you can make stone types available and unavailable. By default ore stone and most economic stones are removed from general use (but neither microcline nor orthoclase are among those). It's also possible to use the normal 'z'stocks-stocks submenu and go into stone to 'f'orbid all stone of a particular kind.
In addition to that, if there's no access to the stone from the building site the unreachable building material doesn't show up either.

nothing forbidden there. Nothing blocking paths. There are stones scattered everywhere. A little annoyign when they say I don't have any non economic stones and their scattered everywhere. At least I get everything nice and color coded.

Did add a reaction to the smelter that didnt show up but I dont think that should interfere. Going to test another fort with the same raws.

Are you using a mod that makes all stone show up on the economic stone menu?

Otherwise, maybe there isn't a path from any of it to the construction, if it isn't showing up in the menu. Otherwise, you should be using blocks for efficiency anyway; have the rocks dragged to a stockpile that gives to a mason's workshop, and have that churn out rock blocks for use.

Make sure you have a stone stock pile with room in it. I suggest creating a new one.

If the stone stockpile gives to the workshop and was in use for a while, then you accidentally set it to 'accept from links only', it would eventually run out and give that message.
