Lumberjack/Miner uniforms

Is there any way to change the default uniforms, so that instead of just having an axe, you can tell the game you want your lumberjacks to also wear a maille shirt, etc?

my suggestion is to create a new military uniform with only Mail shirts as equipment (remember to remove ANY ewpon from the uniform) , then you can just simply create squads of armored civilians

154. When you get the word "adamantine" on your LA vocab, you quickly cross it out and replace it with "cotton candy" and spend the next 10 minutes in fetal position rocking back and forth in fear. (Yes, I actually did this.)
...Wait. Adamantine is real?...
...155. You are no longer sure what metals are real or fictional.

Not that I'm aware of.

Due to a longstanding bug, military uniforms conflict with mining, woodcutting, and hunting "uniforms", so any dwarf with mining, woodcutting, or hunting labors enabled should not be assigned a military uniform.

I tend to do it anyway and just make extra weapons (in accessible places).  It means the woodcutter, etc are the last to the party, but not necessarily terrible.  Once they have their non-work weapon they will use it as a weapon until they get a chance to switch it back again.  So as long as it isn't too long a time period, you can safely set the squad inactive to create retreats and then reset the squad active again.  I've never experienced any serious problem.

My trouble is dropping all of their armor every time they go to chop wood.  I have all of my citizens in training rotation so they build up their military skills over time.  I've taken to keeping most of my miners and woodcutters out of the rotation because they waste so much time picking up all the armor and clothes they drop changing uniforms constantly.

Assign the invisible uniform profession holders to squads set to use only a weapon as the military "uniform" used "over clothing". Deassign the regular profession before assigning to the squad for training, remove from squad after training and reenable the profession. Only the weapon will be changed.
