FOR CARNISSIA: A Patriot's Tale
« on: December 06, 2016, 07:08:51 pm »

**Updates will be infrequent and sporadic**
This game takes place on a world much like Earth but the geography is different. The history on this world is very similar to Earth’s, as are the technological advances. This story will take place in a time period similar to early 1900’s. Though do not assume that all the technology is the same.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Those who fight to live in this world of struggle deserve to inherit every ounce of power from those who allow themselves to be trampled upon” - Lenhard Drescher, Dommen’De General of Amphibious Forces, commenting on the invasion of the Norment Islands.

You are a citizen of Carnissia, one of the most powerful nations in the world. You are a very patriotic citizen that has decided to enlist into the military. What you don’t know yet is that your choices may affect the future of Canissia and the future of the world.
In a world where the individual is discounted as being important and the masses beg for blood, will you be the one to change everything? Or will you perpetuate the war, dragging your bloodied mass to the finish line, carrying your nation to the top of the world?

What is your background?

A-The child of a poor farming family, looking for fame and glory in his nation’s military.
B-The child of an immigrant family wanting to prove his worth to this new country he now calls home.
C-The child of a Carnissian aristocrat wanting to join the military as an officer to give pride to his father and family.
D-A survivor of the recent coastal incursions that wants revenge for his dead family and friends.
E-A general’s son, forced into the military by his family but not sure about his dedication to service.

Agree, plus that's about the LAST thing *I* want to see from this kind of game - author spending valuable development time on useless graphics.

Your name is Vasily Schiffer, the 19 year old son of Vladimir Schiffer. The third son to be exact, the last in line to be the heir to your father's corporation of steel mills and parts production factories. The prime example of military-industry complex, your family has become rich from Carnissia's thirst for cheap materials and quick production of vehicles. Commodities that your father and uncles have spent years developing efficient methods to produce.

Such a tradgedy that one of your uncles was publicly executed for leaking information to Domen'De and the other is held in prison for possibly assisting him, leaving your father full control of the industry.

Your eldest brother has been groomed since birth to take your father's place at the helm of his business and has already been sent in your father's place to attend meetings and conventions for Carnissia's industrial leaders. You and your middle brother have been regarded as simple replacements, if your eldest brother fails, by your father but your mother has kept you both in mind.

She has acquired connections within the government to get the both of you into an officer's training academy. This will provide the both of you a perfect opportunity to prove yourselves to your father and give you something important to do for your country.

She has also taken the both of you to parties for the rich and famous, placing your names on the map of prominent bachelors. Neither of you set on any girl in particular but both of you bathing in the attention it has drawn. This has not pleased your mother as she wants you both to find a connection to another family's dynasty but she also wants you to find companions that you will love and not simply marry for money so she does not complain too much about it.

Tonight your mother has thrown a sort of surprise party in your and your brother's honor. She's ensured to invite the women you and your brother have shown interest in but also families she would like you both to become aqquanted with.

As you both are getting ready for the party your brother begins an odd inquiry,"Vasily, which do you think these women value most in us, our wit? Our intellect? Our looks? No, none of these, I think they simply want a share in the wealth neither of us will be a part of. Tell me, have you yet to meet one girl at these dances that actually seemed interested in you? One that didn't force herself to laugh even at your worst jokes? One that couldn't keep their eyes off your face and not your jewelry"?

You respond as you select a pair of cufflinks from a drawer,"You know Fredrick, sometimes you say the strangest of things". His face shows confusion,"What do you mean"? You laugh quietly,"Use a little inflection for once brother. Have you yet to meet a girl you've found entirely interesting? One you found exceptionally funny? One that was more beautiful than the night sky? No, we all want the same thing. A secured future in the hands of a wealthy aristocrat that we find tolerable enough to live with".

Fredrick scratches his chin before selecting an ornate hat from a rack,"Maybe you're right, maybe we are doing the exact same thing as them. Yet to what avail? The same women are still single and we the same brothers have yet to make a decision. We leave in less than a month and no one has benefited from these parties. Besides father who gets us out of the house for a few days".

You both laugh at the jab at your father, you respond,"Maybe tonight will be different, after all the Claesson cousins, Ms. Mizenov, and the Achen twins will be here. You know, the ones we always look for but can never seem to find at most functions". You straitened your brother's bow tie as he button's your vest,"Vasily, promise me one thing" he turns around to grab a set of ornate canes,"what is that brother"?

He hands you one of the canes,"Promise me that we will both burry Christoph ((your oldest brother)) under our own success". You shake his band before leaving the room,"I promise".

Your mother stands on a stage at the front of a room of tables with an open space in the middle,"Thank you for attending this Gala in honor of my wonderful sons Fredrick and Vasily. As you may know, they will be leaving for training soon. To lead the son's and daughter's of our great country in a righteous war against her enemies. Please enjoy your night and give my sons a warm goodbye with hope of many friends to return home to".

A- Spend the night socializing with the older men and father's who control several important industries.
B- Socialize with the woman at the party with your brother.
C- It's a party! Enjoy yourself!
D- Sneak out of the party with a few friends and your brother.
