Well I have still not found flux or the chasm.

I got an initial immigration of 12 dwarves. Which leaves me with 6. Interesting story. Apparently cave spiders can hunt in packs in this area. The immigration set them off. I have the caves blocked off, but that still leaves me with 5 or 6 roaming giant cave spiders. And a few of the giant swallows. We are going to have to go to the mattresses.

I've had GCS in chasms kill off the entire chasm population before I even know what was happening.  I've also had a 2 GCS...in ambush mode...wandering in the overworld...randomly exploding wildlife.

I didn't know what was happening, until my hunter found it not 3 tiles from my fort entrance.  At that point my dwarves started exploding.

I had my crafsdwarf try to run into the cave early on to retreive one of the newly created dead bodies there. I quickly sealed it up, and haven't had any GCS escape so hopefully I can keep things that way.  ;)

Anyone else notice the named flashing ettin?  That cave system is gonna be an interesting conquest....

BTW, the cave on this map is right next to the lava tile.

Err, I've been overseas for over a week, back now.

Darkfred got it right, that's the area I chose. I think in narrowing it down to that 4x7 I lost one of the biomes.
