it might... you are welcome to wait before trying it.  Just keep buying wood I guess.

Just made an interesting discovery.

On a whim, I targeted a cheese maker and turned Wood Cutting on for him under his labors.

He went and chopped the tree.

Is it possible that I somehow turned off that particular labor for every single dwarf in the city?

maybe, I dont know. You could try looking in therapist, or the dfhack builtin equivalent, and see if woodcutting is disabled.

With DFHack go to 'U'nit list, and pres 'l' to access Manipulator.

It is possible that you did. I once turned brewing and forgot to turn it on and was wondering why my dwarves are drinking water from pools.

Sure, could do that with autolabor - or with manipulator or DT too, I suppose. Which is why I asked :v

Another thing that comes to mind: Read a 2015 thread on miners not mining - was due active military alert making them constantly want to and cancel picking up logs outside of it, which being priority 2 was higher than standard priority 4 mining.
