Apocalypse World: A Day in Hell
« on: September 28, 2016, 11:05:10 am »

Welcome to the New World: Get Comfy
The Master of Ceremonies wanders his domain, bored and endless. Searching for new things, all he finds is the same. Lawlessness. Tribalism. Dictatorship. Since the bombs fell 34 years ago, Humanity has been attempting to climb back up the slippery slope to its broken pedestal, only to slide back even further down the oiled sheet into the furnace.
For about 5 years or so, though, Humanity has managed to take solid hold, neither going up or down. Things have been as bad as they've been, but there's been no change in the status quo, and things have become boring, like a show that's gone stale. There is still potential, though, for glorious, horrific, epic violence to burst forth once more. For, you see, the Master of Ceremonies has found 6 individuals who have the potential to really shake the foundations of this land.
Now, let's see how they live there lives, just to see what they're really capable of. These people could really, well, Shake Up the Place.

Eveningside was quite the busy little ramshackle town that day, people shifting through the streets on foot. A lucky few of them of actually have working bicycles to ride by on. Several of the buildings are in states of disrepair in the former air force base turned into a little shanty town. Broken pieces of concrete and holes in the walls have been hastily patched with wooded or pieces of sheet of metal. A rough ramshackle wall had been erected along the edges of the town, about eight feet high with a single gate at either end. A few men can be see walking across the top of the wall and keeping a eye on the occasional vehicle traffic that passes by.

The farming district was steadily working as it usually was. Thirty or so poor souls out their laboring in the rough soil and trying so desperately to gather and grow a few scraps of food from the rough, irraidated soil to sell. As always, several men wearing the colors of Xenos' Charitable Saints hang around nearby to ensure that morale stays high and none of the workers dare to slack off while under his 'pay'.

The entertainment district, which was really nothing more than a seedier part of the town all thrown up around a few large buildings was hustling that day. Bars, brothels and even a few darker joints could be found quite busy, the 'townsfolk' bartering away their possessions of in some cases, even their bodies for a few drinks or other such things. The street was normally quite crowded due to the rather haphazard and small, cramped nature of the 'roads' between the buildings. Though today people were scrambling to get out of the way of the patrol making it's way through.

Patrols in and of themselves weren't a uncommon sight in Eveningside, what was uncommon was the fact that Uncle Xenos himself had chosen to accompany this one.  He was up in fulle battle regalia as well. His well kept, pre-Apoc military armor fitting him nicely as he strides through the town, assault rifle held loosely in his hands as his gaze drifts across the crowd of people scattering from his path and the dozen or so gangers behind him. "So...This is where she was sighted wasn't it? Mmm. The little scrawny bitch must of fled again."

Beside him Cherry Pop gives a little nod of her head, "Yeah Unc. Had some scrawny looking lil drugger come up and tip us off, said that cunt ye were looking for was a hiding and squirming away down here somewhere. Don't worry, I gots him all tied up if he was-a-lying. We been needing a new target at the range anyways, our last one has started to smell."

The girl they had been referring to was Olive, she had been talked into joining the gang only to have her steal from the armory and skip town so to speak. She hadn't actually left the town, Xenos has made it quite goddamn clear that if she had managed to get out of the gates, he would fucking gut and flay the offenders who let her escape alive. As such, they had been playing their little game of hide and seek for the last few months, though it had always been irritating as fuck to have her escape every time.

Their little group had certainly made quite the impression traveling through Eveningside though, it wasn't exactly common for Uncle Xenos to step out and walk the streets, more often than not he was up in his 'mansion' handling the off report of piece of business that required his attention, or hell, on some occasions throwing massive parties that a select few townsfolk would be allowed in with and most of his gang could attend.

"Gah. Fucking slimy bitch. When I get my hands are on her goddamn body, She'll regret her bullshit."

Cherry lets out a little giggle and lets herself fall a few steps behind Uncle Xenos as she shakes her head and glances at the ganger beside her, "Damn Bow. Uncle is all worked this morning, it's great. Hope we find someone causing trouble today, I kinda miss listening to the screams when someone is skinned alive. Don't you?"

A few miles from Eveningside, the land is burnt skin and the roads break up into islands of tarmac.

Jaguar E-Type rides, dust trailing behind. The driver is Ghost. Ash hair, hickory skin, sad eyes. They narrow, glance to the passenger Avery, then to the horizon.
"Watch out. Things are going a little too well."
Read the Sitch. Something's up.

Chaplain Spot's fingers quest beneath his three-pot helmet, a grin spreading on his face as they move past stray tufts of graying, thin, yet surprisingly curly hair to get to the right spot, the usual spot. He's getting close, he thinks as he follows along a particular street.

He stops next to a rather unremarkable building, a ramshackle affair of stray rebar and corrugated metal propped up haphazardly and lashed into a house-like shape. He gives it a swift kick - it holds. Wonderful. He starts climbing.

He's not a born climber, but he persists through stubbornness, falling from about halfway up on his first attempt. The owner peeks out the door. Oh crap, he thinks, it's that guy again. A few others stop to watch as the second attempt goes much more smoothly, if not at all gracefully. Is he going to jump, some people think with a twinge of excitement.

It very well looks like he might this time, closing his eyes and opening his mouth as pressure starts to build in his ears. The spot burns, his eyes roll back. The good news start to come in at 11, and he begins his morning Mass.

Chaplain Spot opens his brain to the psychic maelstrom!

Avery lounges nextby, seat tilted back, the wind rustling his blonde hair as he bathes in the harsh sun. His eyes are closed and his face calm, serene.
"You worry too much, man. Chill."

He runs his hair through hand and begins to hum on some half-forgotten song.

Avery-Ghost

A man covered in blood and gore runs into your car. He looks really hurt, his skin "torn and revealing muscle." "HELP, ITS AFTER ME! PLEASE SAVE ME, I BEG OF YOU!" He then collapsed to the ground, "Rolling in pain, crying and yelling in pure terror."

Her eyes shoot away from the runner, to a distant pylon. A sunbeam reflecting off a rifle's scope makes her squint.

"No," Ghost mashes the tape deck's 'play' button. Tinny violins rise as the engine roars. "You worry too little. Now get under cover, we got a sniper!"
Handbrake turn to avoid the bait, then do a donut to create a dust-based smokescreen to use as cover for a quick escape.

Midnight is sitting on one of the guard towers above the walls, built on an old sign board of some kind with yellowed sheets keeping out the light.  Two of the gang are here, thin Dystart with her rifle and old Gams.  Midnight had been up since dawn with the two prying some ideas from them by sharing a light beer and staring off into the wastes.

Sounds like all the other crazies are up and I have places to be.  He takes one last sip and puts the bottle down.  "So if Ghost drives back into town, tell the Boss, he needs to know."

Midnight gets up and starts climbing down the rusted ladder.

Mox and Olive gather together above the autoshop. Their individual personalities fade as the power of the Mucasalo strengthens. They await Bow who is currently with his gang boss Uncle.
