Just stopping by to say that, after a thousand dependencies, and optional things, and venues and wholly poos, I did both ViM and CDDA.  And the critters spawned as normal, so I suspect I wont have that problem.  And yes, not only is it an issue because the game is easier without guarentted spawns.  But Im also a modder for a large scale mod.  so.
After maybe 6 hours of troubleshooting it, my actual response to success was 'penisapples'

Anywho.  Ive decided that I dont want vim.  I was expecting the editor to maybe highlight unclosed brackets or something, or maybe tell me if I had hanging spaces or didnt use a comma.

Vim seems to be quite a bit more involved than what I need for daytoday work.

Yeah, vi, vim, emacs are all rather hardcore editors, powerful, but not very friendly.  I usually use nano cause I like the lazy ease with which I can pull it up and do things, without having to wrap my brain around what the hell is going on with vi/vim/emacs command schemes.

For a code editor, I'd look at something like Kate or similar features for your desktop environment, as I think Kate will pull in a bunch of KDE stuff if you aren't already using it.

Even though I'm a huge fan of both Emacs and Vim (well, Spacemacs and Neovim but whatever), I've also heard a lot of great things about Atom for coding work. I guess there might be some performance concerns because it's basically running on top of a very stripped version of Chromium (via Electron), but it looks pretty damn amazing nonetheless while still being a 'classic' editor (even though I believe it has some support for vim-based keybindings if that's what you're into).

Atom's okay. It lacks a lot of the features I've come to expect from an IDE, but then maybe I've just been spoiled by netbeans.

For the record, I was very very very very very very skeptical until I saw it was the github folks.

Sooo.  I was wondering how I manage my musicks best on linux.

I defaulted to the vlc palyer, since I used it even in windows.  I want to essentially continue to rate, organize, and create my playlists and songs.  I mix up a new one like every month.

I cant figure out how to easily manage the playlists, or even rate a song, which I can then use as a primary filter.  Like I did in media player.

So Ive started trying to read through a book on howdo:C++

Not that its particularly relevant to this thread, but its another point of re:headtoscreenrinserepeat.

I cant help but feel like the book in question is going too fast.  Like Ive had to infer what they mean some of the time so far.  And not like, 'ohh, its obvious now', kind of infer.  The kind where I examine each part and deduce which is the most likely representation of what they are describing and not the fluffy fluff.

To that I have to say... I love lua, it lets me do neat stuff and seem smart at times, but without the pain of beating my head against the wall of a more powerful language like C++ or LISP or something.
