My master miner met an fire imp. After the smoke had cleared, I noticed that in some spots the imp's missed shots left piles of ashes. (No! I don't mean the burnt bodies of my fallen dwarves!) Can these be converted into fertilizer?

And an "automatic" system wouldn't really be possible, unless pressure plates were hooked up to floodgates. Hey, that just gave me another idea for something using mechanisms...

I could see one way. If an imp were placed in a square surrounded by arrow slits. Then the imp could shoot and not move. Collection would be still be a problem.
