Posthumous Tomb Designation
« on: August 12, 2016, 03:49:31 pm »

So, I just had an unexpected massacre, roughly equal parts civilians and soldiers.

I realized that after the dwarves are dead, it's almost impossible to control who gets buried where.

Would it be too hard to create a way to assign tombs to deceased dwarves, sort of the way they designate bedrooms?

No dwarf can forsee the hour...

Yes but dead dwarves don't show up on that list.

They don't seem to show up 100% of the time, but I've entombed dead dwarves before.

So...could we have it become a consistent feature?

A bit more options reguarding dwarf burial overall would be nice. Like options of what to entomb with the d0rf in question and what not to, and a way to select and store more treasure for the bigger tombs. Perhaps add a variable where nobles can haunt you from their grave if it's not bling enough.

I'td be nice to be able to exhume old coffins, as well. Let's say you're in crisis mode, and need all those goodies you let old Urist McWarhero take with him in the grave (and dealing with eventual ghosts as they come). Or if you've discovered something nasty about a certain dwarf and don't think he deserves that gold sarcophagus anymore.

I think Toady's latest post on the main page has something to do with proper display cases, which could be taken in this direction.

Lovely. Those too, please.

Bling up all those big, empty halls.
