This issue comes up all the time. There's a bug where artifact items are currently unusable. It's been in place for several versions now. A bug report has already been filed, an related ones constantly are, not sure what progress Toady has made on it. With the impending army arc, I doubt it's high on the list.

So, unfortunately, the masterpiece kitten bone statue you have cannot be placed in your legendary Milker's tomb.

Yep, they treat it like a statue in regards to stockpiles but the statue is not available to be built. Strange.

Yeah, I put [DEEP] in a matgloss with a material that can be found in gold, silver and platinum and it made the king show up because I found "adamantine"

If your dwarves already carry the statue to stockpiles, you could try forcing them to place it in the throneroom.

Remove your existing statue (or furniture) stockpile. Forbid all existing, unused statues except for the artifact. Place statue stockpile in a 1x1 square of choice in throneroom.

Hopefully, if the dwarves move the statue, remove the stockpile again, and mark the statue as forbidden.

I don't think it would increase room value though.

Eh, you could always go dump it in the position wanted, for lack of being able to place it.

Actually I think the guy who made one of Artifact Quality Tables died or something, it is sitting somewhere, but anyways You can't dump Artifacts, the dump option is greyed out.
