What is your opening gambit?

We lock eyes with the witch, sensing the enormity of her malice.  Inwardly, our soul does not waver, and our body adapts, assuming a stance as unyielding and pointed as a knife, the physical antithesis of whatever cunning and mischief she has planned.  We step forward.

Though a shape without form, a shade without color, the Witch’s intent is clear. In her eyes you see the death of worlds, the pristine bleakness of the future she will make. You have decided years ago as you trained, that her twisted ambitions will not see their fruits.

You advance, poised, ready for her. The rain, the water, seem to entwine with you. They do not impede your motion. They imbue you with energy, your stance storing it like an arrow.

As if to spite the rain, the Witch’s form is dry. She raises her hand towards the sky as if to accuse. The raindrops freeze into ice around her as the barest outlines of an unseen weapon can be seen. Her hand wraps around its hilt. “Seven Serpentine Slashes, Slayer of Dogma.” she declares.
