My dwarves are currently unable to plant Sweet Pods in a couple of my farms, for some reason:

Spoiler: screenshot (click to show/hide)

It's not:
  • ...that they're out of seeds, since I have a ton of sweet pod seeds, and if that was the problem, it would say "No seeds" like it does for other crops.
  • ...that they're out of season, because out of season crops don't appear on this menu at all (e.g., for winter, it shows only Plump Helmets and Dimple Cups).
  • ...that the farm is above ground, since if it was, I would see above ground crops instead of Plump Helmets etc.
I am at the seed cap...but the wiki says that should just cause seed-producing activities to stop producing seeds, not prevent me from planting.  I'm using the LNP with vanilla 0.42.06.

Any ideas?

It is too late in the season.  Sweet pods only grow in spring and summer, and if it is late enough in summer it is impossible for them to ripen before fall.  Your growers won't plant them if they don't have enough time to mature before fall.
