Selling masterpiece items
« on: May 28, 2016, 01:25:36 pm »

According to the Wiki:

Quote
Selling a masterwork item to a caravan will cause an unhappy thought when the wagon carrying it leaves the map

Is it true? So I can't sell those tons of masterpiece mugs to caravans?

The bug was introduced in 0.42.06, and fixed in 0.43.01, and yes, it was a bug.

fixed in 0.43.01

It was?  That's odd because I'm still getting the message "A masterwork of Urist McDwarf has been lost!" whenever a caravan leaves my map with one in a world freshly genned in 43.03.

I've read others report the same. Looks like the bug hasn't actually been fixed.

If you've still got a save that could demonstrate this issue post-43.01 - I'd really implore you to request this report be reopened.

Also, you can sell them if you're careful - the unhappy thought is one of the stronger values for 1 masterwork, but it is divided by number of masterworks (creating one, however, I don't think is diluted). Now, selling 5/10 masterwork mugs would give you 5*1/10 =50% of a bad thought....But in any case, none of my dwarves are any less than fine with me just keeping their first masterwork in stock when trading (also has sentimental value, I guess. Unless it's food :p).
