When the World Changed

For a moment you stand over the robe contemplating the runes adorning it which have seemingly stilled with the death of its previous owner, and as you stare at them there is something intriguing about them. You can't quite grasp the shape of them for one moment a line looks straight, but the next you're certain its curved before suddenly it fades back as if your brain is trying to make sense of it all before failing completely. Briefly the thought of taking the robe drifts through your mind before you decide against it and turn to continue heading towards the sword hilt that's not to far away at this point.

When you finally arrive at the center of the crater you look upwards at the portion of the sword that towers above you and only now do you realize that its surface is covered in symbols like those on the mantisfolks' robes. Each one is the size of a closed fist and the sword's surface is covered in uniform lines and rows of them that make its blade look more like some ancient manuscript rather than a weapon to slaughter people with ... All you can think of as you stare at that sword is how you are supposed to fight a race who could summon these things to fight their enemies, surely an all out war between mankind and whatever could call this would end in the annihilation of both sides.

Unsure of how to continue on you stand there staring at the sword struck with sense of worry about the days to come. Its then that it hits you, in the entirety of the time its taken you to search around and come to this sword you've not heard a single sound aside from the wind and even now you see no signs of anyone left alive.

Look for dead soldiers, and take the first set of clothes you find, as well as any weapons, food, or water. Be especially on the lookout for a hand radio. If clothes survive, surely we can find someone's PRC (radio).

((We remember how we got here right? Do we know where the nearest town is? If so:))

Once we're done looting, if there aren't any intact cars, start humping it to the nearest town.
