-snip-

Thanks for the tips! I use a roughly similar setup - which I feel is part of the problem. It just feels as though you're stuck with having to do a similar pattern each round. Whilst that would be fine if you sort of 'found' a playstyle/combo that suited you (like invisible inc) but it feels like there's only one viable strategy at the moment. I'm positive this will change though.

As far as aliases go, they're really awesome, but it's more just that I feel like they could have used the mouse for menus and the like just to make it a bit more user friendly.

I would highly recommend this however. As it's exactly my sort of thing I was happy to shell out for EA (and it is a bit pricey) but even for those a bit on the fence I'd still say to go for it after a few content patches or two.

There are a lot of different possible setups. You just need a scout and (probably) a generator and something to tow. You need to identify threats and neutralize them. Personally I found stealth particularly useful. But you could even stick to a gatling gun potentially.

My problem is that you've pretty much always got to sacrifice a drone to generation and you ALWAYS need to choose some basic modules (interface, gather and so on). I just feel it would be better to have any drone be able to do these basic actions - so instead of just sacrificing one drone to be the generator drone, you'd instead have to choose which of your useful drones you put on that task.

That would probably be good, but personally I find it impossible/unnecessary to manage all 4 drones for real. And you need empty space on at least one drone to put the parts you find back.

Hmmm, I kind of hope it's easier to manage than deadnauts. Deadnauts got annoying fast...

So I bited and bought this.

It's very good. Something inbetween invisible Inc and deadnauts (I reconciled myself with deadnauts, btw)

It does share the same flaw as deadnauts: no saving inside missions.

It's also HELL-HARD.

It's out and it's great.

They turned down the damage you incur when you mess up so you actually have time to react when radiation starts flooding the room.

My advice, for the sake of immersion- in the options turn off the bracket around enemies.

I played one of the early versions of this and liked it a lot. Too bad I can't get it atm.  ::)
First run I ran out of bots, second run I -think- I did everything that could be done on the early version and got bored, but was looking forward to the full version.

It honestly feels like a lot of their problems came from the fact that their entire team was composed of cats, and the people who were supposed to be herding them were also cats.

Just to add to the crowd - it's fantastic. Really well designed and they've managed to stick to what they wanted to do, rather than compromise a lot.

I just picked this up and it's quite the little gem, though, so far, I'm finding most of the challenge comes from user error, not from gameplay itself; I've vented my own drones four times so far, when I was trying to either open a different door, or move the ship.

There's only been one ship so far in the first 20 or so that's actually posed a problem, and that's because it started falling apart around me. I'm seeing quite a few different strategies available, depending on what resources you have and how quickly you have to move. Story, from the message fragments, seems to be adequate and promising too.

What a comeback!

I was doing ok, cleared several systems and got cocky. Next thing I know, I had to end a mission with one disabled drone in the shuttle (drone I'd scavenged in that mission), my other drones were lost in the derelict. On my ship, I had to craft generator, tow and repair the scavenged drone I had to scrape most of my other upgrades to do so, I thought the following mission will be my last - one drone with 30hp generator-tow-stealth. I had some close calls and I boarded three ships until I've found another disabled drone, brought it back and repaired. Now I'm in the game again!!!

So I kept jumping from system to system not realising that you can go back to your previous system with more propulsion fuel to explore the other, lower-difficulty wrecks. So I kept going for more and more advanced wrecks....

At some point I was getting 4 infestation types, and it quickly went downhill from there...

Yeah, interface is pretty amazing, but I didn't get it on this run! I got scan, but by that time I was already finding those enemies and it was no use.

Also, my explorer had the motion thing, which wasn't so helpful. I should install it on a support drone! Although then you need to make the support drone run :P As soon as you start moving, it turns off, so you have to use it super often.
