Royalty isn't a big deal to crab, there is little status to crabs in society if any, and they value hard work and grit.
Rather what they have is responsibility.
Kings queens and royal families look after the crab nation and crab kin
They respect spiritual warriors and leaders and elect them as their priestly caste.
The best warriors, the real Don Juans, spiritual and mindful, wholly purified and spiritually perfected warriors become nobles and kings/queens.
A prince/princess, though not elected, is expected to eventually become worthy of kingship, or supporting the king, like a secondary king.
the way it currently works is like this:
there are many princes and kings of different tribes. different nationalities live on crab mountain.
princes and princesses go into the world to develop their awesome budo, test themselves until they become worthy to rule.
Those who fail, fall or feign are exiled as dark princes/princesses, or worse. Failing to keep up with your RP role will lead to your character becoming demented/insane. Only the truly pure hearted can become a king.
Princes/princesses have to deal with shit they didn't ask for because they were born into it.
LAWS OF THE motherfuckin' CRAB GODDESS
Edict and motherfucking decree of the motherfuckin' Sacred Crab Mountain
1. DON'T TAKE SHIT FROM ANYONE
2. STOP FUCKING SHIT UP
3. DON'T FUCK WITH EACH OTHER, DON'T FUCK EACH OTHER
4. FUCKING FUCK ANY FUCKERS
5. FUCK OFF IF YOU DON'T FUCKING LIKE IT
So far, crabs take it loosely. Goddess prefers that her crabs are hyper as shit and super aware, perfectly enabled servant angels in the body of wrathful monstrous trucker crabs who can get any shit done and do any damn thing that needs to be done, no matter what, anywhere, anytime, for anyone, especially the poor, broken, down-trodden, oppressed, abused etc. and she harbours no ill-feelings or ill-will.
Whoever is against the Goddess makes their choice against her.
She still invites them, no matter what, because of her virtues, which your character should uphold and embody at all times (it's okay if he has weakness = character development, but he should at least try really hard to do it and be accepted)
Here are the virtues:
SALVATION - helping others is the foundation of morality wherever Goddess is, or where her Crabs go.
GUIDANCE - she guides who she wills and she guides them well, against all odds and pursuers, she is with her crabs
TEACHING - teach a crab to fish, don't fish for them. Teaching is something we can give for nothing. And who doesn't want to learn how to be a better crab?
JUDGMENT - Goddess brings crabs up to fight wrong and do things right
LIBERATION - Don't bring others down, try to lift them up
COMFORT - Be nice to others who are suffering, even as Goddess is nice to you. Look after others likes Goddess looks after her Crabs.
REDEMPTION - finding good in all things, even the fucked up world and crabs
As you can see, Goddess can't get her claws involved in the sticky and sordid affairs of the world, due to her sworn goodness.
Crabs on the other hand aren't bound so much.
kings and queens are expected to die for the virtues/commandments and goddess at the drop of a hat.
That's partially why there are so many lineages and royalty (100s of crabs I imagine).
When royalty (or any crab, for that matter) die, and the Goddess is please with them, their souls go to the top of crab mountain and reside with goddess looking after all crab-kind, continuing in their death their own lifes work.
The top of crab mountain is a mystical current of energy which constantly points the way forward to those in need and seeking guidance.
your prince or princess, as a psycho-shaman communes with it to ascertain the will of goddess.
The mystic current of energy is a formless, shapeless, nameless realm, utterly ungraspable and incomprehensible by mind or body.
Whilst in the physical body, you can experience at best, flashes and glimpses of it, but dangerous living in the wastes always takes priority for those that live there.
In a way, dying is good, because they get to go to paradise.
On the other hand, living is good, because they get to help people and please goddess,
working hard until they expire is considered ideal for crabs. Dying in duty is the highest honour (hence why crab royalty are so... you know) and you should encourage other crabs, not to give their lifes, but to use their lives wisely in service of crab-kind/the world.
