Recording Audio and good microphones! What do I buy?
« on: April 12, 2016, 10:13:24 pm »

So currently I want to record good audio and I have quite a bit of money to do it.

But I want to avoid my current option of https://www.amazon.ca/Blue-Microphones-Yeti-USB-Microphone/dp/B002VA464S/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1460516174&sr=8-2&keywords=yeti+microphone

Which will be well over 160 dollars and hopefully get something a lot cheaper.

I only need this to record audio and be a USB microphone as currently my headset pops (and I have NO idea why... I've tried to fix it many time).

I don't want to go over the price of $160, but I might not have a choice.

I've honestly not really ever bought a microphone...

I think you might get better responses asking from You Tubers as those guys will know results of their use that makes decent audio for the end results they publish.

I use this. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00029MTMQ?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=od_aui_detailpages00

Very cheap. I just hang it around my neck and it picks up my voice very well. Here's an example of how it sounds: https://youtu.be/R5TkaObQzJs?t=6m5s My voice is the one that isn't British, and doesn't have a Southern American drawl. I don't use a pop filter, and in that particular video I also didn't do any noise removal, so there is some buzzing, but that's because of how sensitive the mic is.

E: Oh, you want a USB mic. Nevermind that.

This thread on Reddit has some great recommendations as well: https://www.reddit.com/r/letsplay/comments/1brvu4/a_few_microphone_options_for_those_in_need_low/

Other than that, get Audacity and learn how to use it.
