crash due to too big embark(3x3)?

so, my embark is 3x3 in a mountainside with a small woodlands plateau.
the game crashes every now and then, TWBT gives strange visuals from time to time, mousecontrol sometimes acts strange, game crashes almost every "game month".

TWBT

There's your issue.  Change to a 2D, True Type=Yes, and see if it still crashes?

so the current TWBT itself is unstable?
the game without TWBT looks so... unbearable :(
i'll have to try it though.

dfhack is still in alpha release for v42

i'll have to try it though.
Graphical tilesets without TWBT look pretty nasty with their letters replaced with coffins, weird spaces and stuff. Switch to a simple tileset. Much cleaner (once you've worked out what everything is).

i use Pheobus TWBT and it usually looks great.
now without TWBT  :'( it just isn't the same! the game looks unplayable.
also the strange behaviour of the mouse hasnt stopped.
designations just don't seem to be accepted by the game at all and it is just plain strange.
problems still stay the same and it isn't playable anymore.

Do you really need all the extra stuff?

Try installing vanilla DF. Add a simple tileset at a decent size with a pleasant colour scheme. Throw in Therapist if you need it. Believe it or not, DF is perfectly playable without buggy add-ons crashing and making stuff look weird.

without TWBT i lose track of where i am.
exspecially because my defense mostly is dependant of a multilevel walkwaylabyrinth.
and because i lose track easily anyway :D

edit: might it help if i dectivate the (unfuntional) automatic "jobassignments", "other automation plugins", "workflow" and "performance tweaks" plugins?

edit2: it also crashes without TWBT at the same occassions: mostly designating jobs of digging/channeling, smoothing/detailing. also when using the mouse to plan construcions.
i guess it's the mousecontrols that are broken.
also the game sometimes just jumps up one zlevel without any reason.

Start from nothing. Add the extra features you need to enjoy the game one at a time.
Eventually you'll find the cause of your crash, you'll understand how DF works a lot more which will help you next time and you'll probably find that your base df folder is ten times smaller (not including the save).
