Stardew Valley was really my only must-buy for this year, and it definitely met/exceeded my expectations. I'm loving it, but it's gonna make me fail this semester. Aside from that, if the new M&B game does come out this year, I'll definitely pick it up, and I'm super excited for the next DF release because building stuff as an adventurer in vanilla has been something I've always wanted in DF ever since I started playing. Stellaris looks interesting, but I doubt I'll pick it up this year because of how Pdox does DLC.

In addition to a few mentioned already, I'm optimistic about Stars beyond Reach and Frog Fractions 2.

Of course maybe looking forward to FF2 isn't the right state of mind to be in. The whole point was to be presently surprised when it happened, right?

FF2 is my justification for buying terrible indie games, I hope it stay hidden for a long long time.

THUMPER, No Man's Sky and Stellaris.

The last two are gonna have a hard time managing people's expectations. I'm pretty sure there's no way for Hello Games to deliver the version of No Man's Sky people are imagining. And Pradox is on a difficult road making an experience that feels big enough for EU4 and CK2 players that have already received a few years worth of extra DLC in their respective games.

EDIT: Oh and even though I don't have a PS4, Horizon Zero Dawn looks awesome

Stellaris, mainly. There are some promising Early Access games incoming, but no idea if they will amount to anything. I don't think Bannerlord will be ready this year, but it would be supa nice if it was.
