My latest failure:
Dwarf goes craxzy and flips unprotected valves into a bad configuration, Floods fort woth magma coming out of water pipes

I've not been playing lately--waiting for the latest LNP to catch up--but how could no one else not have any amazing Fun to share?

well i tried embarking in an evil biome with resurrecting clouds and i had modded my dwarves to shoot fire like magma crabs and be immune to fire

the instant i unpaused i was attacked by 5 undead ettins and my dwarves went into martial trances while breathing fire, the ettins killed two of my dwarves before dying themselves, then my dwarves were revived by the evil rain and killed my other dwarves

that was the most !!FUN!! i have had in DF yet

though my new fort (which is unmodded) is in a serene biome and has gobbos, elves, and humans nearbye so fighting them should be fun

My last failure was basically self-inflicted, even though I didn't understand it at the time.

Fort was doing very well, and it was going through the poet-explosion. I had a tavern keeper assigned with no labors, so they were constantly shoveling mugs of alcohol into people's hands. At the time I didn't think much of it.

But then the deaths from drunken brawls started piling up. At first I chalked them up as flukes. Three or four dead peasants aren't going to bring the fort down. Then the mayor died, and everyone just started going after each other. I sent in the (highly) trained militia to deal with the troublesome bard that had instigated the riot - but the troops only turned on themselves. Evidently a few of them were on friendly terms with the visitor(s).

Then a siege showed up - consisting almost entirely of crossbow gobs.

They were no survivors.

I haven't had any notable ones too recently.. the biggest instance of !!FUN!! happened Back in 40.24.  I chose a volcanic embark with a river nearby, rerouted the river into the caldera and hollowed out the resulting obsidian layer to build my fort.

Everything went smoothly until a few years in when I got a message about a collapse on the surface.  One of the trees overhanging the caldera had caused a cave-in (a common bug at the time) and punched a hole through my paper-thin obsidian ceiling and the floor below, splashing lava onto a few unfortunate dwarves in my dining hall and casting them in obsidian as the fortress swiftly flooded.
