[Tavern_Room_Suggestible] tag for select intelligent beings
« on: February 10, 2016, 08:18:43 am »

As current, the only way for intelligent beings to be integrated into a fortress is via adopting a [pet] tag. This can be observed upon gremlins who are intelligent beings that are caught, trained and exhibit the tavern guest room claiming behavior, transitioning them into citizens.

What i am suggesting within this post is that any applicable intelligent being (plumphelmet men, native wildmen populations etc) after being trapped within a cage for a certain amount of time (with mandatory feeding & drink) will claim a room (combating against intense sleep deprivation) and as to not clog them all up, will additionally push for citizenship petitions sooner than regular patrons.

Given the nature of this, this could also be divided across the Evil - Good creature boundaries, harpies for instance would be candidates for evil aligned fortresses in the comparison to how satyrs and gorlaks may be inclined to mingle with elven and good aligned civs. And give a reasonable approximate basis on how wild-men generate inside fortress mode reflective outward, evening out worldwide populations a bit more based on climate and environment rather than migratory wild-people dispersed other than those who deliberately travel.

As to slaves *contrasted to wild captives ethically* (I'm surprised the goblins don't sell slaves, but without modding they don't have the means to facilitate conquering rather than razing sites so they probably never get any, not that they could sell them without pre-existing tags anyway) similar claim-room mechanics could be applied if the civ in question does not approve of it and ownership is seized by force, law or commerce (subsequent liberation into your fortress pop)

Having this malleable tag opens possibilities for fun modifications, though applying it to less intelligent and mute creatures like [slow_learner] trolls would not be advisable for bringing them upon embark (with EVIL_ANIMALS goblin prefrences) without being pre-prepared to house them (same goes for all other modified intelligent common domestics/alignment accessible slow learners) is probably not wise, given the hassle and the end result of a promoted but still less than intelligent creature.

> Greater control and room swapping for long-term guests would help iron out outstanding issues surrounding these changes.
> Additionally a way to distinctly separate captives from tavern guests would help too but this is second priority to the above statement.

Feedback and additional relevant references for this relatively simple suggestion would be greatly appreciated.  :)
