Would it be possible to pick a random site - with optional parameters such as site size and features? I find myself crawling through the region map and critically judging each site only to find another night had come to pass by.

There are dice rollers online. Roll 1dX and 1dY for your big square, and then 1d(16-desired embark Xsize) and 1d(16-desired embark Ysize) for your little square.

If it puts you in an unembarkable spot, either get as close as you can manage or reroll.

Or, switch to steel tipped darts!

Use random.org for your smartphone, have it spit out random numbers for your up/down arrows and local area movement. Retry if embark impossible
