Cages and terrariums.
« on: January 28, 2016, 01:30:10 pm »

I've just realized that glass terrariums now work like cages in earlier versions.

And somehow my dorfs refuses to haul them at all.
Cages with animals are blinking on the place of trap.
Hauling is enabled, stockpile is set near the traps but nobody hauling cages.

Don't understand what to do, it was all ok in previous fortress, except the terrariums, i've made them first time in this game.

Yes i have animal stockpile. ;-)
And finished goods, and furniture.

All hauling enabled.

Made a burrow with a dwarf with only hauling enabled - and he's idle.

dose the burrow contain the item to haul, the destination, and a path between the urist, cage, and pile?

also, are you sure the dwarf didnt get smart and piled up some rocks and put his clothes on it to go out and party?

No, I don't think you suffer from a general bug, but rather from some kind of specific problem.

And the animal stockpile doesn't have "take from links only" enabled by mistake?
And I assume you have enabled all hauling tasks on the hauler, not just animal hauling (which I don't think is the one used to haul full cages/terraria).
And there isn't a civilian alert still in effect?

Fun fact. On the flipside aquariums maintain the water status of animals and can contain [Underswim] purely aquatic animals. However attempting to move them across land causes them to drown and the drowning persists due to the animal maintaining its drowning state even when placed in the safe confines of the aquarium (the water is also manipulable, even if not directly, but its there in the T menu)

Terrariums are sort of designed for vermin but are essentially glass cages nonetheless.

If there really is a problem, quantum stockpile the cage away with (T - D) or see if your cage stockpiles are occupied with other stuff/full of animal traps.

I would also advice to check if the animal stockpile accept both empty and non-empty cages/animal trap.
