Then bathe in the ale, and make the rest of the family do it too, so we are presentable. And don't get too stylish, don't want to be mugged. Subdued, dark colours.

And check out the rent prices on a good place vs a house.

Urist wanders into a street bazaar where his looks and smell wouldn't stand out as much. He buys a few cakes of soap from a traveling soap merchant who is able to give him some change.

He finds a travelling dwarf caravan and trades for several sets of fresh clean clothes along with a basic dwarvern toolbox with a hand hatchet hammers, chisels, screws and some spare stone mechanisms. He shops for other gambling paraphernalia and picks up a deck of cards.

Then he rents a room in a middle-class Inn and pays a whole gold coin for a month's rent. At least his family and him will be safe and clean for that price. Decently dressed and cleaned, he converts the rest of his money to more usable silver.

Transactions:
Soap Cakes - for hygienic uses rather than construction. (2 silver for 10)
Clean Fitting Dwarf Shirts, trousers socks and undies for self and family (4 silver x3 persons = -12 Silver)
A Dwarvern waistcoat and fancy suit (-10 silver)
A set of decent dwarf tools with 20 spare mechanisms (-10 silver)
A room in a middle-class Inn, 1 month's rent. (-100 silver)
A deck of playing cards with pictures of Kings, Queens, Knights, Pages and Trumps (-5 Silver)
A wheel of local cheese for dinner (-1 silver)
A whole barrel of superior craft soft-wheat beer, for personal use of course. (-10 silver)

Inventory:
250 Silver Coins
Fairly fancy Bourgeois clothes
A months rental for a middle-class inn room.
Dwarf Tools
20 stone mechanisms
A deck of playing cards (can be used as either a 78 or 52 card playing deck)
Masterwork Dice (As many as there needs to be. They also have a peculiar quality of manifesting as many sides as one wants there to be.)

Superior Soft-wheat beer barrel (27/30) (yes, dwarf babies run on beer.)

Statuses
Well fed.
Well Drunk and full of vigor.
Bathed. With soap and beer.

Aquire Old Warehouse.
Go to the Mayors Office/City Bureau and liscence a casino.
Build 10 Slot Machines, 5 Roulette Tables and keep the other 5 mechanisms for repairs.
Use the Old Warehouse as our new Casino.

Yeah, but look for dwarves to employ. And think about bouncers: what types are there in the city that might be good? Trained sasquatches? Elephant seal men? Domesticated trolls?

Also, turn some of our die into loaded die, just in case.

Speaking of lowest intelligence, that reminds me of the fact that it's probably your first time in prison. Don't worry, I can give you some tips, having spent some time in a few myself. The best way to make friends here is to drop the soap during shower time. Try it, I'm sure you'll love making friends like that!

Since we have as many dice as we need to, pull out a nigh-infinite amount of dice and cause the word to become a black hole (from the sheer mass of the conjured dice).

Urist surveys suitable buildings that could be used for a gaming establishment. There are a few, but their rents are in the scale of the gold economy. He would have to gamble, cajole and make deals if he wants a nice place. Or he could settle for something simpler. A table in the marketplace if needs be, or setting up in a popular tavern.

A cosy 50 square meter shop front would cost 50 gold per month in a good district, and 10 gold per month in a poorer area.

He could get a rundown warehouse outside the town for 10 gold a month. Within the town it would cost at least 50 gold.

The town is mostly human, but there are a smattering of hybrids and the occasional elf and dwarf around, there are no racial districts. Exotic species and slaves would also be too difficult to acquire. There are no shortage of peasants, thugs and menials though.

Try and get invited to the homes of the rich: passing himself off as the baron of whatever fortress he was in.

Also, get a gambling table.
