Any word on getting the option to make different size armors?

I'm growing attached to my Mercs squad, but they're dressed in tatters, rags and old posters advertising the performance troop the undead killed.

You can do it already but the user interface is very clunky at the moment.

First you have to add a task for an armor item at a forge; then press (d)etails to choose a race/size for that piece. You have to do this separately for each manufactured piece and you can't use manager to do it.

Thanks! That's perfect. I've been playing this game, on and off, for years and I still learn something every time I ask.

My avatar is a cat. A hideously deformed cat, true, but a cat.

Also, you don't want one unless you want everything covered in tiny white hairs. And at my age I have enough tiny white hairs everywhere.

How did I never notice this?

The best way to demonstrate it to him is take a save of 40 year old fortress with 150 dwarves in it on a good sized embark with a volcano that just breached the circus and install it on his gaming rig and watch it bring his rig to its knees.

It's new. It came in with the "other species residing in the fort" update.
