Storywriting idea
« on: December 22, 2015, 02:02:58 am »

Hey all, I've been thinking about making a hexilogy with the titles being taken straight out of Star Wars. The Phantom Menace would actually have an underlying unseen villain. Attack Of The Clones would be about clones attacking. All the other ones may be tricky as they have canonical SW names in them (Sith and Jedi) so instead of a hexilogy as originally planned I may just do a duology of E1 and 2.

I do not intend for these to actually contain anything like star wars in them. Any ideas, suggestions, etc?

I'm sure you'd get sued for trademark infringement, but not if you wrote The Plantain Menace and Attack of the Crones instead...

Yes.

For a start, copyright infringement: "The phantom menace" etc is almost certainly copyrighted.

Second, that's not really much of an idea. A title and a ~10 words isn't anything enough to provide a basis for critique or suggestions on content.

Work out the plot down to specifics, make characters and figure out their interactions with each other and the world around them.

Post stuff about that.

It's a good writing exercise though. "Take the title of a well-known film or novel and write an entirely different, but title-relevant story."
