I discovered adamantine with around 80 dwarves, and soon enough the king arrived dressed as a peasant (ballooning the fortress to over 100 dwarves). I noticed that the first of that wave was a child, who just happens to have his entire family tree listed under the relationships tab.

I assume this child is the king, but what exactly does he do? He doesn't show up in the nobles tab, and obviously doesn't have any requirements. I built an awesome royal room for him, but at this point I'm guessing assigning it to him would just piss off the other nobles.

Do I have to grow my fort to a certain size before the king assumes his rightful place or something?

The adamantine King is bugged at the moment.
I don't know if the normal King does work.
