Who would want to work on a game where they're literally not allowed to touch any of the mechanics, lest they're dogpiled by nostalgia-goggled people who think the original was perfect.

Intelligent developers who want a fanbase and revenue.
And what, for example, Firaxis did with NewCom gave them exactly that :)

Except NewCom is garbage compared to OldCom.

NewCom is, however, a good game. It's just not a good X-Com game.

In other words, they didn't make cash because it was Com. They made cash because it's a marketable modern game, clutching to the fame of OldCom without delivering the same features.

Eh, it plays very differently. But as someone who's played countless hours of both new and old, I find they have the same overall feel. But of course how much you like a game is going to be subjective. *shrug*

However, this is not an XCOM thread.



Have there been any updates or anything to Convoy? I haven't played in a while.

no from the news it seems they worked mostly on workshop/mod support
