Heiterverzweiflung. Not a legit German word so much as something a friend and I made up in German class once. "Carefree despair". When life is so fucked that you can't stop laughing.

XB-70

Uwotm8

That plane is one of the sexiest aircraft to ever grace the skies, the fact that it was made at the wrong time is irrelevant, sexy engineering is sexy engineering. I mean, have you see the ass end of that thing? That's some hard core Sci-Fi shit right there.

Tho I completely agree on the A-10 (and it's original namesake too) and the Blackbird, supremely sexy craft.

Interesting rule of thumb, coolness of American aircraft is inversely proportional to how much the USAF as an institution likes them.

Or to put it another way, coolness of American aircraft is directly proportional to how unnecessary they are.

Yep. The Warthog and the Blackbird are both unnecessary platforms.
