"I didn't know where I was, So I tossed the branch to the ground so I could say I am near it. Can you tell me more about where I am?"

((Sorry Shade, I wrote up the whole update before I saw your post!))

You say, "I thought you would catch it somehow. At least it is a new tree now." The bear replies, "That it is, though why that is good, I don't understand." You aren't really sure what he means by that. You tilt your head and ask, "Where am I?", and the bear says back, "Just a little ways away from me, standing amid a forest of trees."

The bear then stands and points and says, "You seem to like these trees. Perhaps you could help; there's honey here, just out of reach, but maybe you could get it for me."

"Maybe if there are more trees, there is more honey? Why do you need honey?"

I'll give you honey if you tell me what things I shall run into if I keep walking.

"Maybe if there are more trees, there is more honey? Why do you need honey?" you ask, and the bear replies, "Perhaps there is, but where it is, I couldn't say. And why? I'm hungry, and honey will fill me with food." You tell the bear that you will help if he tells you what lies ahead. "My roamings have never led me far, for forest lies a long ways on. But once I took a journey to the very edge, and the trees gave way to a flowing river. I didn't cross, and I don't know what lies beyond," the bear responds.

Now, your promise given, the bear's prize still lies out of reach. How will you retrieve the honey to fulfill the words you spoke?

Fetch our stick, with permission stand on the bear's shoulders, then knock the honey out of the tree with the stick.

Also, PTW.

Reach out and get it, the bear does not seem to have the same hands we do to try doing the same.
