PTW, would it be possible for you to put out a mac version of this? If not I'll just wineskin it but an actual application would be nice.

Mac export is a feature I'd have to buy. I was thinking about Patreon if people really, really get interested in this, but I feel like it'd be crass to ask for money at this stage of the game.

So are you interested in feature suggestions?

Suggestions are welcome :) Any kind of feedback is welcome, actually.

Thanks for mentioning that escape doesn't work on the title screen; I'm thinking about doing a small update today, just to add some more sound and fix little things like that.

That new version is up! There's two new levels, escape now works on the title screen, and best of all, there's a new little splatter effect when you die:

Huh ok yea I just posted a bunch of spam.
But uh, how about a water decal effect for the egg-
When I put my fingers near/into running sink water, the water bends
This would make a really awesome decoration!

That certainly was some... interesting feedback :D

But I think I'm done adding pretty decorations and stuff for now. There's not as many levels in the game as I'd like. I'm thinking about 60 to 80 when all is said and done; they're pretty short, so there's going to have to be a lot of them to fill out the length of a decently-sized game. They're not all going to be "Get the key, then get to the exit" levels, either; there's got to be more variety than that at some point.

I anticipate the next release coming out in about a week. I'm working on something pretty big, the first truly major addition to the game since I got a working prototype. It's a secret to everybody :P

Well, I uh. I feel kinda silly now. 60-80 levels, what the hell was I thinking when I wrote that?

I'm gonna have to call the game "done" as soon as I finish up a few more things, namely the boss battle (which you can preview in the newest version).

I had some realizations over the past few days:

  • Holy crap, school starts tomorrow! And I'm going full-time this term!
  • I have no direction to take any further development; any more levels would just be stuff for the sake of more stuff.
  • I'm out of ideas for new levels and stuff to put in them.
  • I'm a bit bored and there's projects I'd rather be working on.

So, even if I continued working on this game, any more levels would just kinda suck and be pointless. I'm out of inspiration for this project, and I think I'd rather finish it cleanly than just let it fade out and die without a real resolution.

So, I'm approaching the final stages and aiming to finish this game. I'm probably going to create three things:

  • Intro cutscene
  • Boss fight
  • Ending cutscene

This isn't going to be the last game I ever create... but it's going to be the first one that I've taken all the way from "idea" to "finished, complete experience". And in that respect, I'm glad. :)
