We can't abandon the food stores! Man can't survive on candy alone, and if we lose our jerky now who knows how long we'll last on the sustance-less sugary sweet landscape.  In the interest of long-term survival, prioritize rescuing the food cart.  Have the men form up around it.

Defend the food, and arm as many men as possible with climbing axes. Our swords are meant to carve flesh, not smash rock. Luckily, our foes, though numerous, are peanut brittle.
