Trope question
« on: September 18, 2015, 09:12:09 pm »

What is the trope for preparing yourself for a danger coming.

Example: the survivors barricade themselves in a building and desperately scavenge for supplies, knowing that a horde of zombies is coming their way, because zombies go towards sound, and a gun was fired.

Sounds like just a specific form of Race Against The Clock. I don't know if there's anything more specific in that in the exact sense you are looking for.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!

That helped a lot, thanks. It led me to the tropes I was looking for.

What's the one where a guy gets knocked so hard into a wall/floor/whatever and the concrete/stone/bricks break?

All fanfics are heresy, each and every one, especially the shipping ones. Those are by far the worst.

Depending on how they play it it's probably a variation on either Impact Silhouette or Ground Shattering Landing as the two most common ones.

You might also want to check out Crater Power (possibly combined with Grievous Harm With a Body) or Hammered Into the Ground for some other possibilities as well.
