My current game has not been going as well as I expected. Due to having too many rooms to dig and only one miner, it took longer to get my farm operational then usual. It actualy took so long to get my farm ready, that I actually ran out of food.

All was not lost though, my first crops had been planted, and my dwarves only had to wait until they were ready to harvest.

But that wasn't good enough for them. They wanted food now. So when the dwarven caravan arrived and I commanded my mason to begin construction of a trade deport, I could not find him. In fact none of my dwarves could be seen anywhere within my fortress. Pressing the 'u' key revealed that my dwarves were all on 'eat'. Eat? Eat what? the crops haven't come in yet. As there were still no dwarves inside the fortress, I looked outside the fortress. I found them returning to the fortress with food. It seems that if dwarves get hungry enough they will steal from the caravan.
