Is armor broken?
« on: September 09, 2015, 12:07:37 pm »

Well, I was modding aroung, and tried to make combat more realistic, soooooooo:

After making spears significantly lighter, giving them a 10 contact area, and 60 vel. multiplier, it turns out that a steel spear can tear muscles through a layering of iron breastplate at thickness 10, coat and shirt, BUT ONLY bruises skin to the same layering WITHOUT BREASTPLATE.

So my question: does DF only recognize the first armor layer or what causes this ... brokenness of armor?

The only thing I can think of is that spears have two different type of attacks: a stab attack, and a bash with the spear's shaft.  Was the second attack the latter?

Fabric acts differently than hard armor, and there's some other weirdness going on.

60 velocity mod is like ultra super slow motion since the default is 1000.

IIRC if a sharp attack is "deflected" it turns into a blunt attack with the remaining force or something like that.

Knowing Belgium, everyone will vote for themselves out of mistrust for anyone else, and some kind of weird direct democracy coalition will need to be formed from 11 million or so individuals.
