Pouring magma from an aqueduct into the chasm
« on: August 26, 2007, 05:43:00 pm »

I built an aqueduct over the chasm to get magma to the front of my fortress, and I made an opening in the aqueduct that pours magma into the chasm.  Will this magma eventually kill the chasm creatures?  Or do I need to pour in magma by a different manner?

Any magma falling into the chasm SHOULD be counted, so yes it will eventually kill the chasm inhabitants.

it goes much much quicker if you clear off a wide section of cliff so that you have more magma "waterfall" space.

If you have vulnerable areas the attacks will skyrocket untill the magma is finished its work.

Even spillage from a bridge is enough to redline the chasm eventually. And, personally, I've never seen any increase in attacks from flooding the chasm with magma.

Attacks don't seem particularly frequent.  It's been a while though, and still no red line.
