Dark Fortress Issue and question.
« on: August 30, 2015, 04:59:25 pm »

Ello I am posting about an issue with the dark fortress as you guys already know of this issue due to over population of goblins/trolls which causes lag and lots of LAG!
Anyways I am asking because I myself and another user has been having issues with the dark forts and wondered if there is a solution to this problem? Like is there a way to stop the forts from doing that or what? I did hear a rumor long ago that if you change the location type for the goblin civs in Entity to like a castle or dwarf fort that this will stop the LAG. I do wonder... is this rumor true? or was it just sum troll rambling nonsense? It would be nice to know, thank you very much!

I heard that if you mod the goblins so they need to eat, it keeps their numbers in check.

Ah, that may work. ALSO I think I will make the goblins mortal, I think that will help as well, well thanks for the tips. :P
Edit: I will take the eat rumor as a grain of salt...>.>

If you do that remember to give the some source of food, like underground farms or cattle.

Remove [TOLERATES_SITE:DARK_FORTRESS] and [LIKES_SITE:DARK_FORTRESS], remove [USE_EVIL_ANIMALS], remove [NO_EAT], [NO_DRINK] and you get much more manageable populations.

Code: [Select]
7: Smunstustob, "Lieboulders", dark fortress
        Owner: The Warm Bridle-Ruthlessness, goblins
Parent Civ: The Hate of Creeps, goblins
        lord: Snamoz Profanezenith, goblin
        694 goblins

10: Aturusm, "Flygluttons", dark fortress
Owner: The Lie of Silence, goblins
Parent Civ: The Turquoise Fiend, goblins
        lord: Amxu Cruelecho, goblin
        333 goblins
        1 antelope brute
        1 human prisoner

19: Zozoamxu, "Senseseduce", dark fortress
        Owner: The Jade Ghoul, goblins
Parent Civ: The Ugly Dungeon, goblins
lady: Olng Ghoulmysteries the Doomed Dimples of Neutralizing, goblin
        146 goblins
        1 dragon
Note vanilla dragons don't take over sites, I made them intelligent so they do stuff like that.

Wait, since they're okay with butchering, cooking and eating sentients, couldn't they live off of slain combatants and the dead?

What do you think they are? elves?
Thats a huge insult to goblins.

There was already a thread about this, the conclusion was:no, there's nothing you can do. I mean really, we tried so many things. Like that idea you just had? Didn't work.

Its a feature. Impregnating booze is a planned tech tree for dwarves and this is a sneak peek at it.

[TOLERATES_SITE:DARK_FORTRESS] and [LIKES_SITE:DARK_FORTRESS] if removed will prevent goblins from reclaiming lost fortresses and pits.  It also does not do anything except encourage goblins to emigrate to other types of sites.

Well, I've consistently had pops staying under the 10k insanity of vanilla gobs like that, the evil animals is also very important because trolls are passive lagbeasts.

Trolls spend most of the waking day meditating and trying to resist the urge to murder every sentient life form, so when a goblin walks past saying "in a time before time, somebody killed somebody" the troll wrathfuly explodes in a fury only attained upon hearing the half arsed attempts of philosophy.
Passive lagbeasts is ignoble how dare you, I thought you knew better Max™

They kill goblins, which is hilarious, but without the trolls I can run around that much easier and I see things like random squads of humans and dorfs killing goblins instead!
