Updating to Win10 broke fullscreen
« on: August 25, 2015, 09:11:48 pm »

Windows 10, for all your improvements, this might be the straw the broke the camels back
Whenever I fullscreen via f11 on windows 10, it cuts the corners of the screen off, to unusable levels. When I zoom in, via scroll wheel, it shows progressivly more of the edges, while shrinking the playable area as well, as if it is rendering to too large a resolution, but not maintaining this res.
Changing the resolution in this init to my monitor resolution is to no avail.
Anyone else had this problem, or an easy fix? Does this merit going on the bug tracker?

You're not using that idiom correctly, plus Windows 10 is awful

And that is the story of how napalm was invented.

Given 99% of all games can be still played on XP, and Windows 7 is supported until 2020, no need to beat your head against the wall with 8, 8.1, or 10+ until 2021.

Plus, you can always play DF under Linux and leave the pain of Windows behind.  :P

Is Windows 10 out now? I would guess that this is a Windows problem, and that it will probably be fixed, but it still might be worth looking at DF. In any case, I dunno if people will help (or can help) so much as tell you that you are using a bad OS :P

Same here; I always launch DF in windowed mode and just manually fullscreen it on launch.  Solves all those issues, but this used to show up for me in Win7 as well - not unique to Win10.

I know; came out weird. I'm not totally satisfied with Win10 as is; lost of graphical bugs.

Given 99% of all games can be still played on XP, and Windows 7 is supported until 2020, no need to beat your head against the wall with 8, 8.1, or 10+ until 2021.

But I like having software available.

I always launch in windowed mode, and fullscreen via f11. I'm going to try changing that, and the print mode etc. will post later.

Instead of using F11, try it with the max icon in the window bar and see if that makes a difference.  Not sure what the difference might be.

It will maximise, but that leaves the windows bar around it, rather than fullscreening; It also doesn't show the odd graphical bugs when resized thus.

Changing print mode, auto vs manual resolution and fullscreen, BLACK_SPACE, etc did nothing. What's more, zooming out from default makes the outlying text even further away, as though it's a bug with the rendering engine, rather than simply being the wrong resolution.

I got a clean copy of df, no addons, same issue.

I am seriously considering rolling back to windows 7.

You had Windows 7??? Clutch that shit for dear life. Windows 8 is terrible, Windows 10 is worse. STAY WITH 7.

Guys I don't think we want to mess with using dwarves as fusion material here. Be careful.

I reverted back to win7; Microsoft offer a free .iso file of 7, 8.1 and 10 on their website, you just need a serial key.
