I think it was a good idea, but executed badly. More NPCs, less players filling indistinct roles. Might be worth closing this game and starting a new one with some revisited rules on a new one?

Yes, that would be good. The main problem for me was a sense of direction: We had no clue where the heck to go.

I'm thinking a combination of scifi colony management, expansion, and conquest could be interesting.

In regards to this, I've designed a "landgrab" game based around where players can have % control of "continents" so to speak, rather than sections. You then fight or develop those territories together.

The idea is that large masses of land can be developed through the spending of administration power every X days, then you reap a % of that based on your control.

Only part I'm stuck on right now is combat. Do players be allowed to send manpower from A,B,C to D, and how do you "station" troops in Continent D to defend it?

Suggestion:

Make a global map.

Place battlefields throughout each territory. Each battlefield being worth X % of land if you control it. Players can upgrade battlefields they own with buildings/station troops. Defender advantage.

Battlefields being tactical combat of sorts.

Make transit time relative to type of terrain covered/vehicle used/distance.
