Looking for a game
« on: May 17, 2015, 10:56:21 pm »

It's been a while since I've last been on, and I can't find the Looking for a Game thread so I suppose I'll make a new topic.

In any case, I recall seeing a 2d isometric fantasy citybuilder kickstarter project that looks to be along the lines of RimWorld or Dwarf Fortress. Does anyone remember what it is?

KeeperRL?
Gnomoria?
Dwelvers?

I don't know.

There's a thread for that. And that. And that. And this topic too.

Necros are fine if there was anything even vaguely on-topic to say. Better than a new thread anyway.

Gnomoria and Dwelvers and Game of Dwarves are not 2d.  Neither is Banished, but they all fit the bill otherwise.

There is this thing, which is probably not what you want but still interesting:  http://www.unknown-horizons.org/

Also, this list of lists might be relevant to your interests:  http://caesar3.heavengames.com/cgi-bin/forums/display.cgi?action=ct&f=1,7348,,20

The thread you're looking for is the one I linked at the top, try asking there as more people will be watching it.  Also, welcome back Bien.

Gnomoria and Dwelvers are not 2d.
graphics-wise "2d isometric" could mean anything as long as you can't rotate your camera at an arbitrary angle (it's more of an estetic, which Gnomoria matches perfectly.) Gameplay-wise even DF isn't 2d (I'm not sure about RimWorld, but I do know it's not isometric.)

I suppose, but even though Gnomoria has 2D sprites, it is setup in a pseudo 3d isometric view.  Even going so far as having a visible representation of a z-axis.

Compare to say Final Fantasy 7.  3d characters, 2d world, 2d gameplay.  Or more on point, something like (the original) Harvest Moon -- a fully 2d game even though the 2d art is drawn in such a way as to suggest depth.

As opposed to something like the first Legend of Zelda, which is a 2D game without any suggestion of depth, more like Egyptian art or such.

But yeah, could be anything.

Isometric graphics? The perfect example is AoW I.-II.
..to the OP: Heres a list of games with isometric graphics. Perhaps you will find it here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Video_games_with_isometric_graphics
