mining
« on: August 20, 2015, 04:57:48 pm »

so i accidentally found this secondary mining option where i locked the numlock and then designated an ore for mining and the miner then mined every kind of that ore that were connected to that ore (the designated area was highlighted with green in my graphic mod..)

but now i cant replicate the effect after using it a couple of times...

if you use dfhack (e.g. through the lazy newb pack), control+v should dig out an entire vein. I think the new version also has some new control for it, but I didn't see it on my install..

The vanilla equivalent to this is a toggle when you select mining.  Normally mining is d(esignate)->d(mining/default selection).  Once there, you can cycle through options using "a" You'll see the choices on the bottom of the screen (same column that the designation menu is in).  You had selected "automine gems/ore" but you can also tell it to only designate ore, only designate gem, or designate all (default).
