Quick question regarding Advanced WorldGen
« on: August 06, 2015, 07:05:12 pm »

I am trying to create multiple small bodies of water (10-20 tile lakes on the World map), but my result thus far has been several large lakes or oceans (coastline alone at least 25 across).  These are the settings I have been playing with, but don't know if what I want is even possible;

[ELEVATION:0:400:400:2000]
[DRAINAGE:50:100:1000:3200]
[VOLCANISM:1:100:1:1500]

[ELEVATION_FREQUENCY:4:35:10:10:10:10]
[RAIN_FREQUENCY:1:1:1:1:1:1]
[DRAINAGE_FREQUENCY:1:1:1:1:1:1]

[EROSION_CYCLE_COUNT:500]
[RIVER_MINS:0:0]
[PERIODICALLY_ERODE_EXTREMES:1]
[SUBREGION_MAX:2750]

Any info is appreciated :)

A few clarification questions..

Does the world have to support dwarves (must it have mountains?)
Do you want only oceans on the edge of the map? or land? or it doesn't matter?
What world size do you want?

Must support Dwarves (haven't gotten to adding new races just yet)
Doesn't matter
I am using Medium 129x129

This is my interpretation of what you're looking for.  Might not be right, and certainly can use modification if you want it to be "friendly", but as a baseline, I think this gets you what you want.  Generates quickly, and with few rejections.

Definitely a step in the right direction.  I am trying to create a world filled with 'potholes', if you will.  Lots of small waters.  Did you only adjust the Elevation settings, or use other inputs?  Also, why is the world nothing but desert every time? :o

I adjusted quite a few things, but the most relevant ones are the elevation mesh, elevation range, and elevation frequency.
I made it desert so running rivers would be quick, so worldgen time would be quick.

The intent of the worldgen I provided is to show what's possible, not necessarily that you would want to play the worlds it generates, without modification.  I mean, you could, but they might be a bit boring, having no enemies, for example. :)

Oh for sure.  Like I said, this is a good start- proof of concept :)  I wonder if adjusting Drainage for more hills will have any effects on the number of water bodies.
