I'm going to be reviving this next week, but I need posts from the current players to make sure they're still willing.  If not, alternates may be needed, or a new scenario will be began.  Can you let me know what you think?

I love you guys, you know that?  Three months of idleness, and all of you post within 24 hours.

Drak nodded.  "I would seek advice, and some time to think on these events afterwards.  This must be done within three days, however."

The chief looks back at you, taking a few moments to relax before responding.  "I'm not sure what I can say, but it seems likely that Drolson would not lie in such a thing.  If you do it, the wish will be granted, or at least properly attempted.

There's also the possibility that if you were to kill one of the runners it would count as well.  They certainly can know fear.

Whatever you decide, come see me and I shall render whatever aid I may."

Generously offer to call it a draw.  Look around for some scaly delight.

The seal bobs it's head around.

"You are quite funny.  I suppose I can spare something.  But fish here not real for you.  You want a fish in mortal world?"

Taste of the forbidden fruit, and be enlightened.

(10)

As you munch on one of the fruits, your vision begins wavering.  The dark room becomes lit up with colour, with the  tapestry showing an unexpected rich weave, and the texture of the dark stone wall becoming more apparent, with the tool marks from the ancient stonemasons.  With vigor, you reach out your wings, and hit both walls again.

A warm taste has flowed over your mind, and you aren't sure what to do next, except that you are certain that whatever it is, it will all work out properly.

((Can I request some more info on the runners, besides that they think we're tasty and use bows?))

Find Replop, god of healing and construction. Follow the signs on the stone and the feeling of divinity.

"I'm sure by 'funny' you mean 'wise and learned,' of course.  And yes, some fish in the real world would be excellent.  But now, to get to the matter of why I am here.  I...

Eh... right.  Uh... why... yes, why was I here again, Mr. Seal?  Was there something you wanted to do?
...

Do you, eh, like shuffleboard?"

Ask Mr. Seal why I came here after accepting some scrumptious squirming deliciousness.  Inquire as to his shuffleboard habits.

((Can I request some more info on the runners, besides that they think we're tasty and use bows?))

The runners are known to be from a far country, far to the southeast of your homeland, but on the same continent.  They are very large, larger than humans, and are exclusive herbivores.  They are quadrupeds with a humanoid upper body and a third pair of limbs, and are called 'runners' because they move around quickly but do not fly.  Historically, relations were cool with them, with limited amounts of trade, a significant language barrier, and a little residual hatred from the times the birds were more magical, as they feared you then.  Little is known about their history or religion, except that they have been on this continent since time immemorial.

Some communication is possible, through a loose trade creole, but it's difficult to make complicated treaties or agreements.

As for their lifestyle, little is known since hostilities have began, but they are mostly a rural people, albeit with several cities of significant size.  It is also known that they are divided into different tribes, each one with it's own dialect, and usually, capital.  Their estimated population is somewhere around two or three million, spread out over a great area.

The particular ones that are attacking the birds seem to be of a few different tribes, making it more difficult to make peace, as one tribe may not respect the deals made by another.  In addition to that, for the last few decades, there have been an increasing number of maddened runners which seem to be intending to kill or die, rather than hold territory.

There isn't a lot of respect or desire for the manufactured goods of the runners.  Their agriculture is fairly primitive, their goods (outside of some decent pottery and glass) are rudimentary, and they have little magic and relatively crude technology.  The humans that you traded with from across the sea have much more that is desireable.  Outside of their bows, they have little other than spears as weapons of war.

{Wisdom Check -> failure}

You reach out with your mind, and encounter another intelligence.  Some words appear in your head:

"Hello, Replop.  Been a long time.  How have you been?"

Ask Mr. Seal why I came here after accepting some scrumptious squirming deliciousness.  Inquire as to his shuffleboard habits.

The seal looks at you quizzically.  "I don't know.  Maybe you want to worship me again?  Was very amusing.  I'll give you some fish."

"What's shuffleboard?"

Khaal began, "Ah, shuffleboard!  A game of skill and true grit!  It's the foundation of our society!  Why, let me tell you..."  Then, suddenly, he experienced one of his increasingly rare moments of clarity.

"I... I remember now.  I'm here for a boon, something to aid us against the swift runners that seek to destroy our civilization.  Is there anything you can do to help my people?

If you could spare a scrap of power, we would forever play shuffleboard and 'spit' into the spittoon in your honor!  You could come to play too, of course!"

Ask for divine aid.  Offer 'spit into the spittoon' and 'shuffleboard' festivals in his honor.

((Did I not post here?  Hrm.  Good info, though.))

"You are wise, elder.  Perhaps I should speak with those who fight the runners that attack us?"
