Fill command!

Please? For the love of god, stack up some rocks. I don't even care how long it takes!

Rock stacking?  Did you know that's already in the game?  When someone is trying to build something (most noticably in a channel) they'll move rocks off of the site, sometimes on top of other ones.

Just wish I could put them in bins or something.

Suggesting stacking items in stockpiles?
A good idea.

Of course, this is all assuming the dwarves dig out the ceiling as they create corridors and rooms, and thus create space to stack items vertically...

It doesn't make sense to stack rocks. Rocks are huge things, you can make containers out of them. How can you store something in a container that's made from a thing of the same size? And the same goes for wood and furniture. It's cool the way it is now.

Er, no. I thought "fill command" would be obvious. I'm wishing for a way to fill in rock that you've mined out.

Please specify that in your original post, but anyways, yes.

Re-walling was stated to be on the "Do ASAP" list Toady has, i think. Re-walling also deals with filling in channels, and the like.

What they meant came off as pretty clear to me for whatever reason. Oh well.

But yeah, I'm eagerly awaiting this. If only so I can fill in channels here and there, or get rid of ugly one vein squares of ore, preventing me from being anal about smoothing every wall and floor.
