Sharks don't frenzy at the smell of blood. They're attracted by it because it means a wounded animal is nearby but they don't go crazy.

There's frenzy, there's go crazy, and there's bloodlust - three different thing.  :o Sharks are attracted to blood, they DO attack wounded animals, and, apparently, frenzies happen when multiple sharks go after the same prey. If we stand in shark-girl's way, she could instinctively react as though we were going for her prey, :-[ especially if we are rushing right over to it's side and touching it. I'm not saying it's a foregone conclusion,  :-X but it's a risk that might make our timid protagonist a little nervous. :'(
