I have this 21 year fortress I'm getting tired of playing on.  With ~170 dwarves it takes me a couple of days before one years goes by and yesterday I spent 3 hours on early winter.  I'm sort of sick of how slow everything is.  It's a pretty big fortress and I really don't know exactly how I should end it.  I've been starting to get sieged again, and since the defences are crap, I know that unless I raise all my bridges and block it from the outside it will be overrun by the goblin.  That might take a few years however, since I have a number of elites who are almost champions.  I also have 1 champion.  I haven't fought the demons or even crossed the lava yet.

Help me decide how to end this.  I want this to be replayable in adventure mode and possibly reclaim it.

Well, the best way to fight the demons (cheapest way) is to pancake them with bridges in long hallways.

Usually, if your going to reclaim, I'd sugguest mining down to adamantine, then making as much armor and weapons out of it as you can before the fort goes kaput. Then when you come back as an adventurer, you can claim the best armor and weapons possible. Adamantine will never random drop, so its the only way to get an adventurer to have such good items.

Stop all food production and let her run! Or you could do someting flashy, like making a cross-fortress channel from the lave to 1 space from the outside river. Forge as many pickaxes as possible (useful if you reclaim it), set everyone to mining, and put a ton of floodgates on it. Then just route 'em all to a lever and burn the whole planet!

Well, for something spectactular, try diging past the magma flow. Either (A), you survive, and you can end the fortress by digging admantine, (B), you don't, in which case it's ended for you, or (C),  you are reduced to a paltry sum of dwarfs, which will cause everything to speed up again.

Also, who or what is a Champion?

A champion is a military dwarf who has reached legendary status with a weapon skill.  The one I currently have is an axedwarf.  Wish I still had that artifact steel axe to give him.  Chop things in half in one hit =P

Seems like I won't be able to wait until tomorrow for more suggestions.  I'm getting massively sieged by goblins and most of my army has been decimated by the rain of arrows.  I still have a ton of guards, but they're scattered.  Hopefully this fortress will get more interesting if it survives.

I hope I get sieged again during summer.

I'm still open to suggestions as to how to end this.

I would go with Gigalith's suggestion.

Don't use any cheap drawbridge and fortification tactics, just marshall your soldiers and make a battle of it.

Assuming you don't get completely slaughtered, cleaning up afterwards should keep the survivors busy until you're ready to either mine the adamantine or the goblins show up to finish you off.

I was thinking about doing that.  Think I'll let some of my military to recover a bit and then pull most of the guard (leaving it at the bare minimum required by nobles) for an attack.  This will be the first time I face the demons woo! =P
