just about every ai is immobile.and depending on the host. it may be large. and most all computer programs are pretty delicate.

How about the fact that it is completely incapable of doing anything but letting minecarts run through its "circuits", and opening a few "display hatches"? The computer cannot perform any operation it is not specifically given control over.

And again, kea squads will steal its minecarts, rendering the whole system inoperable.

Personally, I like [DF] because after climbing the damned learning cliff, I'm too elitist to consider not liking it.

1. Kea don't go underground to steal stuff.
2. The "control" output register controls an automated watergun and an upright spike repeater. The computer _can_ influence the game world. Slightly.

On the other hand:
Once you turn temperature back on, the waterwheels will freeze for two months each year shutting the thing off for the duration of the freeze, and it _has_ a failsafe which automatically shuts the computer down automatically after ~1200 operations and needs dwarfs to re-set. The computer cannot bypass these hardware limitations. Freezing would also shut off the watergun.
If goblins or undead or syndromes came and killed every last dwarf, the computer would in short order grind to a halt. It cannot really function without its meatbag minions a healthy fort. Clearly there is no reason for concern, it's not like the computer had a "dead hand" operation available, like, say, turning the watergun on before it is deactivated...
Wait...

EVERYTHING IS WATER FINE

You could theoretically seal a werecreature/vampire in the chamber with the reset switch
