The Listen To An Album Thread
« on: March 13, 2015, 05:17:13 pm »

I've realized recently that I just don't listen to enough decent albums and end up listening to songs alone. I intend to remedy this, so I'm starting this thread.

The basic idea is that, starting with me, everyone posts their favorite album, with a YouTube link if there is one. (Please try and choose albums that are fairly accessible.) The next poster listens to this album and posts a review of the one before. This isn't going to go in much of an organized fashion because of how long it takes to listen to an album, but it'll be fun.

I'll start. Here's Skambankt's Eliksir, which is probably my favorite of their albums. They're a Norwegian hard rock band; this album is about 45 minutes long.

@Footjob, you can microwave most grains I've tried pretty easily through the microwave, even if they aren't packaged for it.

...where has this band been all my life, and why haven't I heard them? I can definitely picture them leading a viking raiding party, that's how metal they are!

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

Not here, either.

Bizarre. I'm pretty sure it's the band's official channel!

There's a free Chrome extension called Proxtube that fools YouTube into thinking you live in another country.

My personal favourite album is After the Gold Rush by Neil Young. I post this a lot, but that's because it's an awesome album.

Justice - Cross † <- Trés funky.
Well, that was uh... interesting I guess!
I expecting actual funk, but I'm not quite sure what that was. Some strange mix of funk, techno, dance and disco?
I'm really not sure, but it was a long album and most of it didn't really appeal to me. Too disjointed and abrupt. I had to cut it with a couple of goregrind tracks to get me through it. :P I managed to struggle through regardless, since I wanted to revive this thread.

I did like the songs 'Phantom' part 1 & 2, and 'Waters of Nazareth' was pretty good too.
It feels like that album would be more suited to background music than active listening. It was alright.
Now, to give this corpse of a thread the kick it needs to bring it back to life...

Clowns - Bad Blood. (Don't worry, it's not grind! Or metal!)

I dunno, I thought it was pretty danceable.

I was boogieing in my seat during the tracks I mentioned.
A couple of others, too, but then the danceable bit would abruptly stop and make Yoink sad. :(
